WUHAN. CHINA – Wuhan coronavirus leaves city streets virtually empty. This city of 11 million people is normally very, very busy. However, Wuhan, the epicenter of the coronavirus, streets are nearly empty.
Doctors and medical workers have become among the latest coronavirus victims. One of the doctors who discovered the coronavirus, now has the virus. Nearly everyone is staying at home during the largest quarantine in human history. There are now well over 50 million people under quarantine, leaving Hubei Province looking like a “ghost town”.
Human to human transmission of coronavirus is primarily thought to occur among close contacts via respiratory droplets generated by sneezing and coughing as on a cruise ship. Everyone is advised to cover their mouths when coughing by coughing into their elbows.
This close contact remains a leading reason why city streets are empty, airlines are not flying in or out, facilities are closed, passengers on cruise ships remain in their cabins, isolated from other passengers, taxis are not operating, and schools are closed in infected areas.
