US Surges Help to Senegal in Fight Against Sahel Extremists

DAKAR, SENEGAL – As a island of economic growth and religious pluralism, Senegal has been at the forefront of success in the Sahel. United States Ambassador Nathan Sales says the United States sees Senegal as having a role as an “exporter of security” in the Sahel.
With violent attacks by extremists on the rise in the Sahel, the United States has surged resources in an effort to help Senegal maintain its role as a stable environment for economic growth.
There are many local businesses in Senegal with many more on the horizon. Notable is the all women automobile repair shop in Dakar, the capital. Privately owned bakery shops, cleaners, and janitorial businesses are on the rise as well as drivers, painters and carpenters.
