WASHINGTON (AGN.News) – The world mourns the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022) at Balmoral estate in Scotland. The Queen, as a monarch whose life was bound by duty and commitment to unity and peace, died at age 96 on 8 September 2022.
Her son Charles III is now the King of the United Kingdom and the Head of the Church of England following the death of the Queen while his wife Camilla becomes Queen consort of the United Kingdom. His son Prince William, next in line to the throne, becomes the Prince of Wales with his wife Catherine becoming Princess of Wales.
Today, King Charles III, the new monarch, had his first in-person audience with Prime Minister Liz Truss at Buckingham Palace.
His first address to the nation was broadcast, in which the King thanked his “darling mama” and dedicated himself to his new role. He pledged himself to “lifelong service” following the lead of his beloved mother, The Queen.
Earlier today, many local dignitaries, politicians, and members of the public gathered at a service of prayer and reflection at London’s St Paul’s Cathedral to remember the Queen.

Prime Minister Liz Truss, cabinet members, and other government officials have all collectively express their condolences at the lost of Queen Elizabeth II.
Mourners gathered at Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, Balmoral Castle in Scotland, and in communities from Great Britain to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United States and the 56 nations of the Commonwealth of Nations to pay their respects with messages of gratitude for a life given to the world for over 70 years as the Monarch of the United Kingdom.
This is such a monumental event that people gathered in their homes, businesses, community centers, State Houses, government buildings and many more facilities around the world, to mourn and honor the Queen who gave her all to the world community.
President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden, who meet with the Queen last year in London, paid their respects to the Queen and her life of service. The flags fly at half staff at the White House to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II whose life and reign have had a lasting impact on the world community.
President Biden told reporters he will attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey.

Commonwealth of Nations as well as other nations and people are expressing their condolences to the Royal family at their lost. As independent nations, they have had only one Head of the Commonwealth in the past 70 years.
King Charles III, King of the United Kingdom is the head of state of 15 member states, known as the Commonwealth realms, while 36 other members are republics and 5 others have different monarchs.
What can we expect next?
The Queen’s coffin will depart Balmoral estate in the coming days for the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh which is the official residence of the British monarch in Scotland.
From here it will be taken in procession to St Giles’ Cathedral, where the Queen will lie at rest, allowing the public to view her coffin.
Next, the coffin will then move to Buckingham Palace in London, ready for the lying in state.
She will be brought to Westminster Hall from Buckingham Palace in a slow moving procession, accompanied by a military parade and members of the Royal Family.
People will also be able to watch the procession as it passes through the streets and big screens broadcasting events are likely to be set up in London’s Royal Parks.
The Queen will lie in state in the Palace of Westminster for about four days before her funeral, allowing members of the public to file past and pay their respects in Westminster Hall.
Westminster Hall, also called the grand hall, is the oldest part of the Palace of Westminster, at the heart of British government.

For those paying their respects
There are expected to be large crowds. Crowds of mourners are expected and there are warnings for those wanting to take apart in the historic occasion may have to wait for hours and even overnight.
Everyone are advised to bring food and drink as well as suitable clothing because of the slow moving crowd of visitors and the long hours.
The lying-in-state begins at 17:00BST on Wednesday and will last until 06:30 on Monday, 19 September – the day of the Queen’s funeral.
People are advised that the Palace of Westminster will be open 24 hours a day between those times.
