President Joe Biden Announces U.S. Troops Will Exit Afghanistan by September 11, 2021

WASHINGTON – U.S. President Joe Biden, in a televised speech, announced the full withdrawal of all 3,500 US troops from Afghanistan by September 11, 2021, the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
The President also said he would visit Arlington National Cemetery Section 60 to honor the war dead and wounded from the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. In announcing the war casualty figures (2,488 dead and 20,722 wounded) he expressed his condolences and support for the families of the war dead and wounded.
President Biden said America has to deal with the challenges of the next 20 years and not the last 20 years.
A national security expert said, “The main threats to the American homeland are actually from other places.” Many new and emerging threats are from Africa, China, Russia, North Korea, parts of the Middle East, Syria and Yemen, he said.
