McDonald’s Fires CEO For Having A Consensual Relationship With An Employee

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS – McDonald’s fires the CEO… McDonald’s Corporation confirmed on Sunday, November 3, 2019 that it fired CEO Steve Easterbrook following the revelation that he was having a consensual relationship with an employee. The current president and CEO is Chris Kempczinski.
Today, McDonald’s also confirmed the departure of David Fairhurst, the chief people officer. Bloomberg first reported on the departure. Fairhurst’s departure is unrelated to CEO Steve Easterbrook firing.
McDonald’s gave no further details, saying it doesn’t comment on personal matters. Several other executives have exited the company in recent weeks for various reasons.
Former CEO Steve Easterbrook will get at least $675,000 in severance pay and was barred from working for some 36 major fast-food rivals for 2 years.
