Martine Moïse: The Widow of Slain President Jovenel Moïse Returns to Haiti After Treatment in Florida Hospital

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AGN.News) – First Lady Martine Moïse, widow of assassinated President Jovenel Moïse, returned to Haiti today wearing a bulletproof jacket. She was transferred to a medical center in Miami after she was shot three times on July 7, 2021 after the early morning assassination of her husband in their home.
She was meet by Interim Prime Minister Claude Joseph and other government officials. Her return allows her to attend the funeral of her husband today. With an arm in a sling and healing from the attempt on her life, First Lady Martine Moïse looked determined to carry on her mission to help Haiti in its recovery.
Haiti is in both a governing crisis and a national gang-violence crisis. The COVID-19 health emergency is also on the increase requiring an international rapid response along with a credible vaccination program.
Haiti’s economy is dominated by special interest with over 60% of the population living on less than $2.00 per day.
