FBI investigating as a hate crime the death of Asian-American teen killed in Colorado in 2017

DENVER (AGN.News) – The FBI revealed on Monday that the death of Maggie Long, an Asian-American teen killed in Bailey, Colorado, is being investigated as a “hate crime matter.”
As the rise of anti-Asian hate crimes continue to rise, this case in now on the radar of federal law enforcement. Long’s death in the families’ burning home, coupled with missing firearms, ammunition and other items confirms the existence of multiple suspects and a murder.
Local investigators believe there was an altercation between Long, 17, and her assailants before the fire started. Park County Sheriff Tom McGraw has said that Long was “purposely set on fire and burned alive.”
While no arrest have been made in this case, the family hopes this new development will yield positive results. Anyone with information on this crime are urged to contact the FBI or the Park County, Colorado Sheriff Office.
