Washington, D.C. – Billionaire Michael Bloomberg, former three term mayor of New York City and founder of Bloomberg LP, has entered the race for the 2020 Democratic nomination for U.S. president today.
With deep pockets and a strong desire to beat fellow New Yorker Donald Trump in the November 2020 election, Bloomberg plans on winning the 2020 Democratic nomination and the 2020 presidential election.
In launching his campaign Bloomberg said, “I’m running for president to defeat Donald Trump and rebuild America.” He also said, “We cannot afford four more years of President Trump’s reckless and unethical actions.”
Forbes has ranked Bloomberg as the eighth-richest American with an estimated $53 plus billion dollars. Bloomberg will be able to self-finance his campaign.
He has a financial advantage over his democratic rivals having spent at least $31 million dollars in television ads that will run across the country in the next two weeks.
In early November he announced a $100 million dollar online ad campaign aimed at defeating Trump in four battleground states.
As a media mogul, on the subject of beating Donald Trump, Bloomberg said, “I know what it takes to beat Trump, because I already have, and I will do it again.” He refers to himself as a “doer and a problem solver – not a talker.”
