ATLANTA – The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed over 471,200 lives in America and over 2,352,000 around the world. With few signs of ending, everyone has been urged to take mitigating steps to protect oneself and the community.
Many people will be celebrating Valentine’s Day all over the world in just a few days. Celebrating this “Feast of Saint Valentine” has become a tradition for millions of people worldwide.
What makes this day so special is the connection it has to honoring early Christian martyrs. This day has become a traditional cultural, religious, and commercial celebration of romance and love.
Millions of cards will be shared with those we love and value. With the symbol of the “heart” at the center of the celebration, it’s only fitting that love beyond that day becomes more and more valuable.
COVID-19 has rained down much sadness in thousands upon thousands of families. This year there will be millions of missing seats at the table of love due to COVID-19.
What can we do to fill the void?
The basic root meaning of the word “love” means to look for an opportunity to do good for another. While it can go into the negative of this idea, the positive of its virtue more leans towards showing human kindness and an unselfish loyal concern for the good of another.
Love is shown by positive action towards another. What greater love can there be on Valentine’s Day than to reassure those we love that we will take positive steps to safeguard their health by following the protective advice and guidelines of local and governmental agencies who provide COVID-19 information.
Looking to the future with confidence where many more families will share the joy on the day when we all shall say, Happy Valentine’s Day!
