LAS VEGAS (AGN.News) – Four years from now travelers wanting to travel to greater Las Vegas will be able to get there in style via high speed rail service.
Brightline West, a privately run high-speed rail route linking Las Vegas Valley and Rancho Cucamonga, California, is scheduled to begin construction soon.
The permitting process is ongoing with final approval from the Federal Railroad Administration projected to come later this month. Brightline is expected to begin revenue service in early 2027.
Brightline provides high-speed travel
Brightline, an inner-city high-speed rail service, will provide a 218 mile on-rail travel experience for Las Vegas bound passengers and commuters from metro Los Angeles.
Due to complications around urban areas, this rail service will not go directly into the city of Los Angeles. Therefore, Nevada bound travelers will have to connect with Brightline in Ranch Cucamonga.
This rail line will be laid within the median strip of Interstate 15. Travelers will experience majestic views of vast mountain ranges and a beautiful desert landscape as it travel at an average speed of 115 miles per hour and up to 200 miles per hour.
Brightline, a private provider of inner-city passenger rail service, has many years of experience connecting people with their destination of choice.
Now, Brightline will bring high-speed travel to tourists and commuters alike as they travel from California communities with connections to stations along the way ending in Nevada.
This metro Los Angeles, California area to Las Vegas, Nevada rail project, when completed, will remove 3 million cars from area roadways and 400,000 tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere every year.
Florida commuters and travelers use Brightline
In Florida, Brightline has developed high-speed rail service from south Florida to metro Orlando.
Brightline service is currently available from Miami, Aventura, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, and West Palm Beach. Soon northbound travelers will be able to go all the way to Orlando.
According to Brightline, in just a few months rail service travel will be available from West Palm Beach, Florida to Orlando International Airport.
Brightline rail service is about ninety percent complete in Florida. Certification of the northbound rail service is proceeding according to plans.
It’s estimated that newly-arriving trains will be online by June 2023. 110 mile per hour trains are currently being tested in Palm Beach County and areas north of the county.
On March 6, 2023, Brightline train was actively passing a speed test from Cocoa, Florida along an unobstructed 35-mile fenced rail corridor (without grade crossings or overpasses) to Orlando International Airport. The train reached an historic and impressive speed of 130 miles per hour.
Its previous speed was 110 miles per hour. This train is named Bright Green 2 reached this milestone today. It is now the fastest train in the southeastern United States.
Eventually, there will be five stations from Miami to Orlando International Airport. Brightline passenger train will have a maximum speed of 125 miles per hour with passengers onboard.
These travel options will bring the United States’ traveling public closer to selecting another way to cover long distances while eliminating greenhouse gases which damage to the environment.
All work done by labor unions
Brightline signed agreements with craft rail unions. Brightline will use highly skilled union labor to fill jobs. These union workforce members will operate and maintain the inner-city and interstate rail systems.
This $10 billion California to Nevada rail project operated by Brightline, inked a deal with the High-Speed Rail Labor Coalition. This labor Coalition is made up of 13 rail unions representing more than 160,000 freight, regional, commuter, and passenger railroad workers in the United States.
Mike Reininger, CEO of Brightline Holdings, said, “Our nation’s first high-speed rail system will be operated and maintained by union labor, a statement of the strength of the American workforce.”
He added, “… we are proud to be using America’s most skilled workers to get there.”
As the construction of high-speed rail service proceeds, the need for professional skills will accelerate creating over 35,000 jobs. There will be a workforce of over 1,000 permanent jobs created.
The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act
The IIJA, as it is called, was signed into law by President Joe Biden on November 15, 2021. This act will help facilitate the work needed to improve America’s traveling infrastructure.
This includes high-speed rail service, bridges, communication, and chargers for electric cars along interstate roadways.
The bi-partisan support of Congress has moved this high-speed rail system from a plan to a reality. High-speed passenger rail service is a necessary part of the growing national eco-system of a high-in-demand American public transportation system
