WASHINGTON (AGN.News) – The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Program improves and grows the economy according to the 2023 report.
Currently, the U.S. economy is growing. However, many families are struggling with having the money to meet the daily or monthly financial needs.
Housing cost continue to rise
The main need for housing whether renting or buying a home or apartment continues to be a challenge for many families.
The rising cost of housing continues to be a top concern for many families across the country. Inflation continues to be a major concern for many families.
Adding to that is the rising cost of food, healthcare, utilities, and transportation.
How the Department of Commerce helps
The Department of Commerce’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) program is a leading agency to help every community across the country.
According to the Department of Commerce the “DOC Equity (DEIA) Council continued to inspire us, ignite change, and spark action across the Department to cultivate a culture of fairness and inclusion.”
“The Council made significant progress in the critical areas of external service delivery, internal workforce development, measurement, and infrastructure to create a world-class program of sustainability and accountability, including:
Town Hall meetings like: The Equity Town Hall with Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Q&A, hosted by Secretary Raimondo and Deputy Secretary Graves, and convened bureau Diversity Councils for enhanced coordination and collaboration.” – DOC
Plus the DEIA Performance Review: “Rolled out a revised DEIA performance element for all 450 executives and 150 senior level/scientific positions in FY 2023, with the issuance of revised DEIA performance language for all 1,200 supervisors and 50,000 employees in FY 2024.” – DOC
DEIA Priority: “Prioritized Equity and DEIA initiatives with the highest return on investment for FY 2024, including increasing engagement in the governance structure, promoting knowledge transfer from political staff to career staff, and ensuring adequate financial and organizational resources.”

DOC is working for you everyday
DOC says: Thanks to the hard work of the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU), the Department of Commerce received an A+ rating for the Fiscal Year 2022 Small Business Procurement Scorecard for the seventh consecutive year.”
“This achievement demonstrates the Department’s diligence in devising innovative procurement strategies to increase awards to small businesses in all socioeconomic categories while removing barriers that block small and disadvantaged businesses, especially new entrants.” – DOC
The work of the Department of Commerce helps levels the playing field for everyone in every community. Fiscal year 2024 will see financial improvement in communities of color and marginalized communities according to the DOC.
DOC takes positive steps to help
The DOC says it will: “Prioritized Equity and DEIA initiatives with the highest return on investment for FY 2024, including increasing engagement in the governance structure, promoting knowledge transfer from political staff to career staff, and ensuring adequate financial and organizational resources.”
In the last three years many individuals and families have decided to launch their own local business. DOC has recorded a record 16 million new businesses started across the country since January 2021.
In January 2023, DOC said: “President Biden’s economic plan is working,” said Commerce Secretary Raimondo. “When President Biden took office, the unemployment rate was 6.3%. Today, it is just 3.4%. That’s the lowest in 54 years.”
U.S. unemployment rate for December 2023 was 3.7 percent. The number of unemployed remained unchanged at 6 million at the end of 2023.
